Born and raised in Halifax — Andrew has been active in diverse musical fields for more than 20 years — from classical and jazz — to mainstream pop and rock — most notably as keyboardist for the Juno and ECMA-award winning Johnny Favourite Swing Orchestra.
At St. Paul’s, Andrew leads music for both the traditional and contemporary services — performing on the church’s 1908 Casavant pipe organ — and St. Pauls’ beautiful Yamaha Grand piano. He also considers himself very luck to work with an active choir, and music team!
In addition to Sunday services, Andrew performs and organizes various concerts throughout the year — from seasonal Evensongs and the annual “Christmas on the Grand Parade” — to concerts of improvised hymn tunes, and larger scale productions, like the St. Paul’s Titanic Memorial re-creation (2012) and the Chesapeake/Shannon Bicentennial commemoration. (2013).
In addition to his work at St. Paul’s, Andrew has served with various musical groups over the years — as musical director for “EvenTide”, a choral ensemble he formed in 2005 — as well as the Bedford Community Singers, St. George’s Consort, the Chester Brass Band, and the Jubilee Swing Orchestra.
In addition to his musical pursuits, Andrew is Creative Head with Halifax’s Arcadia Entertainment. Here, he has produced, directed and written more than 100 hours of documentary television — including a 4-part series on the Apostles for History Channel Canada and National Geographic Channels International — and — 4 seasons of “Canada Over the Edge” — an aerial exploration documentary series tracing the outline of Canada from helicopter — shown on Smithsonian Channel Canada, and 37 countries around the world.
